Video podcast production for brands

We plan the show, record it on multiple cameras with clean audio, edit the full episode and cut the clips that get it found.

Colt Concepts handles podcast video production for brands: we help plan the show, record each episode on multiple cameras with clean audio, edit the full episode and cut short clips for social from every one. Shoot days are priced starting at $1,500 for a half day.

What's included in video podcast production?

Video podcast production covers everything from the show idea to the files you publish:

  • Format and show planning. Who the show is for, the format (interview, panel, solo), episode length, segments and a name that says what it is.
  • Multi-camera recording. A wide shot plus a camera on each speaker, so the edit can cut to whoever's talking.
  • Audio. A dedicated microphone for each voice, recorded and monitored separately.
  • Editing. A tight full episode with an intro, graphics and clean cuts between cameras.
  • Clips. Short vertical clips of the best moments for social.
  • Publishing files. The video episode, an audio file for podcast platforms, and thumbnails.

We're a full video crew, not a podcast-only shop, so the show gets the same lighting, camera work and editing we bring to brand films.

Who is a video podcast for?

A video podcast suits brands and founders with expertise to share and an audience that wants to hear it regularly:

  • Founders and executives building a public voice for the company.
  • Service businesses answering the questions their clients ask every week.
  • Brands with a community that wants more than ads.
  • Existing audio podcasts ready to add video.

Why does audio come first?

Audio comes first because people will watch a video podcast with average pictures, but they'll leave one with bad sound in seconds. Some of your audience will only ever hear it.

That's why every speaker gets their own microphone, levels are monitored for the whole session, and echo and background noise are dealt with before recording starts. Our guides to recording clean audio on location and lavalier vs shotgun microphones explain the choices we make and why.

Lighting the set

Good lighting makes a podcast look like a show instead of a video call. We light each speaker so faces read clearly, separate them from the background, and keep the look consistent from episode to episode so the show is recognizable in a feed.

We use the same principles as an interview shoot, covered in our guide to how to light an interview. Once the set is lit and framed, we can match it for every recording session, so the show doesn't look different every week.

Clips for social from every episode

Every episode should produce clips, because most people discover a podcast through a short moment, not a full episode.

We mark the strongest moments during the edit, such as a sharp opinion, a story or a useful tip, and cut them into vertical clips with captions, made to work with the sound off. Our social video team handles the cutdowns. If you want someone to run the channels too, see our social media management service.

Video podcasts on YouTube

Many shows publish their video episodes on YouTube, so we deliver episodes ready for it: chapters, a clear title, a custom thumbnail and Shorts cut from the episode. Our YouTube production page covers how we package long-form video to get found.

How a podcast recording day runs

A recording day runs in four steps:

  1. Plan. We agree on the format, guests and topics, and build a simple run sheet for each episode.
  2. Set up. Cameras, microphones and lights go in and get tested before the host sits down.
  3. Record. We monitor picture and sound for the whole session, so nothing needs re-recording later.
  4. Edit and deliver. The full episode first, then the audio file, clips and thumbnails.

Recording several episodes in one session is the most efficient way to run a show, because the set only needs building once.
