Franchise video production that sells the opportunity before the first call

Franchise development video is a set of short and long-form films (a founder story, franchisee testimonials, a Discovery Day preview, an FDD walkthrough and local launch ads) that show prospective franchisees the brand, the people and the day-to-day reality before they commit. Colt Concepts produces the full series in-house, typically in 2–3 weeks from kickoff to final delivery.

Why franchise development is a video problem

Selling a franchise is selling a vision. Candidates are about to put their savings, and often their career, into your system. Before they sign, they want to see three things: the founder behind the brand, the owners already running it, and what an ordinary Tuesday actually looks like.

A brochure can't show that, and neither can a sales call. Video can. When the content does the first conversation for you, your development team spends less time explaining the basics and more time with candidates who already understand the opportunity.

That's how we approach every franchise project. Franchise development is a content problem before it's a sales problem.

Franchise videos for every stage of the funnel

Each video has one job at one point in the candidate's journey. Most brands start with the founder story and 2–3 franchisee testimonials, then add the rest as the pipeline grows.

Founder story video

The founder video carries the brand's "why." We interview the founder on camera, film the brand in action, and cut a film that tells candidates what you believe and who will thrive in your system. For 3Natives, the founder film featured founder Anthony Bambino and anchored the whole development series.

Franchisee testimonial videos

Candidates trust current owners more than any sales deck. We film franchisees at their own locations and ask the questions a candidate would ask: Why this brand? What did the first year look like? What does support actually mean? For 3Natives we filmed four franchisee stories, including multi-unit franchisee Tyler Cameron and two-location franchisee Dody Sikora.

Discovery Day video

Discovery Day is where serious candidates meet your team. A Discovery Day preview shows HQ, the training program and the people they'll meet, so the visit becomes a confirmation and not a first impression. For remote candidates, the same footage can be built into a virtual Discovery Day.

FDD walkthrough video

The Franchise Disclosure Document is long and dense. A short walkthrough explains how it's organized and what each section covers, so candidates come to their review better prepared. We write these scripts for your franchise attorney to review. Any statement about earnings or performance has to match what's in your FDD.

Local franchisee ads

Once the long-form pieces exist, we cut them into short, platform-ready ads for paid social, built for the people who fit your candidate profile. On the 3Natives shoot, the original ad script didn't land on set. We scrapped it, brainstormed five new concepts on the spot, and three of them became the brand's highest-viewed videos on Instagram.

Franchise video case studies

3Natives: a full franchise development series

Franchising · Video production · 2025 → Full case study

  • The challenge: 3Natives was ready to grow at the brand level and needed to show candidates the founder, existing franchisees and day-to-day reality, on a turnaround built around the sales cycle.
  • What we made: a founder film plus four franchisee testimonial videos, with scripting, interviewing, editing, B-roll and final delivery all handled in-house.
  • Results: 5 videos delivered on a fast turnaround; 4 franchisee stories told on camera; 3 ad concepts written on set became the brand's top Instagram performers by view count

Dream Vacations: a seven-part franchise video tour

Franchising · Video production · 2025 → Full case study

  • The challenge: Dream Vacations sells a lifestyle business that's easier to feel than to explain. The brief was long-form video candidates would watch in full, hosted on the franchise development site itself.
  • What we made: seven long-form, high-production videos filmed on location at real franchises, showing day-to-day operations, not staged sales footage.
  • Results: 7 long-form videos now live on the Dream Vacations franchise development site; every location filmed in real operation; the series is now the first honest look a prospective franchisee gets at life on-site

Our franchise video process and timeline

A full series (a founder video plus four franchisee testimonials) typically takes 2–3 weeks from kickoff to final delivery.

StepWhat happensWhen
1. BriefYour development goals, candidate profile, locations, deadline and budget rangeDay 1
2. PlanInterview questions, shot lists, location schedule, and a script for legal review where needed (FDD)Week 1
3. ShootFounder and HQ, then franchisee locations, on one routed shoot scheduleWeek 1–2
4. EditLong-form films first, then ad cutdowns. 1–2 revision roundsWeek 2–3
5. DeliverFiles formatted for your development site, email nurture, YouTube and paid socialWeek 3

The biggest factor in speed is how quickly decisions come back from your side. A locked brief and fast feedback are what make a 2-week delivery possible.

Multi-location franchise shoots, handled

Franchise content means several locations, several owners and several schedules. We plan the shoot so it costs you as few days as possible:

  • One routed schedule: we sequence locations by geography so one crew covers several franchisees efficiently.
  • Real operation, not staged: we film during actual business hours, the way we did at every Dream Vacations location.
  • Owner prep: each franchisee gets a short prep sheet before the interview, so they're relaxed and ready on camera.
  • Consistent look: the same crew, lighting approach and grade across every location, so the series feels like one brand.
  • Travel-ready: we're based in West Palm Beach and produce beyond Florida. Our Brooks Running film was shot in New York City over marathon weekend and edited in Florida, delivered in under 48 hours.
  • Talent and locations: we have a talent network from past campaigns and can source locations in South Florida and beyond.

What franchise video production costs

Every franchise series is scoped to your locations, number of videos and deadline. As a guide:

PieceStarting at
Franchisee testimonial video$1,500
Founder story / brand film$3,500
Recruitment ad spot$5,000
Shoot day$1,500 half day / $3,000 full day
Ongoing ad creative$2,500/mo

Travel for out-of-state locations is scoped in your quote, with every cost built in up front. See all starting prices on our video production cost page.

Beyond video: getting the series seen

The videos only work if candidates see them. We can also:

  • Build franchise location pages that don't trip duplicate-content filters. For Techy we built a location-page framework with required unique local sections, so franchisee pages rank on their own and don't compete with each other. → /blog/techy-case-study
  • Run paid social to your candidate profile using the testimonial cutdowns.
  • Rebuild your franchise development site around the video series.

Franchise video FAQ

What videos does a franchise development campaign need?

At minimum, a founder story video and 2–3 franchisee testimonials. Ideally you also add a location tour, a day-in-the-life of a current franchisee, a Discovery Day preview and short ad cutdowns for paid social.

How long does a franchise video series take?

A full series with a founder video and four franchisee testimonials typically takes 2–3 weeks from kickoff to final delivery. Rush timelines are possible when the brief is locked and feedback comes back quickly.

Can you film at multiple franchise locations?

Yes. We've produced multi-location franchise content and route the shoot schedule so one crew covers several locations efficiently. For Dream Vacations, every video was filmed on location at a real franchise in operation.

What is a Discovery Day video?

It's a preview of your franchise Discovery Day: HQ, the training program and the leadership team candidates will meet. It helps candidates arrive prepared, and the same footage can power a virtual Discovery Day for remote candidates.

Can a video explain our FDD?

Yes. An FDD walkthrough explains how the Franchise Disclosure Document is organized and what each section covers. It doesn't replace the document or legal advice, and your franchise attorney should approve the script, especially anything that touches earnings or performance.

Do franchisees need to be comfortable on camera?

No. We send a short prep sheet beforehand and run the interview as a conversation, not a script. Most owners loosen up within a few minutes, and the edit keeps the moments that sound most like them.

Can the same footage be used for ads?

Yes. We plan cutdowns during pre-production, so one shoot gives you long-form films for your development site plus short ads for Meta, Instagram and YouTube. On the 3Natives shoot, three ad concepts written on set became the brand's top Instagram performers.

Where is Colt Concepts based?

West Palm Beach, Florida, at 6618 Georgia Ave. We work with franchise brands across South Florida and travel for multi-location shoots.
