Technical SEO audit services

We find what stops search engines crawling, indexing and understanding your site, rank the fixes by impact, and make them ourselves.

Technical SEO audit services check whether search engines can crawl, index and understand your site, and fix what's stopping them. We look at crawling, indexing, redirects, speed, structured data, internal links and AI crawler access, then hand you a short list of fixes ranked by impact. Our web team can make the fixes too.

What do our technical SEO audit services check?

Our technical SEO audit services check every layer between your server and a search result. Google's Search Essentials (opens in new tab) set out the technical basics a page needs to be eligible to appear at all, and the audit starts there.

  • Crawling: robots.txt, XML sitemaps, blocked resources and whether search engines can reach the pages that matter.
  • Indexing and canonicals: which pages are indexed, which are excluded and why, and whether each page points to the right canonical URL. We work from Search Console's Page indexing report (opens in new tab).
  • Redirects and errors: broken links, 404s, redirect chains and loops, and soft errors.
  • Speed and Core Web Vitals: real-user data for loading, responsiveness and stability, as described in Google's Core Web Vitals guidance (opens in new tab).
  • Structured data: whether your schema is valid, accurate and matches what's on the page.
  • Site structure and internal links: how pages connect, orphaned pages and how authority flows to your key pages.
  • AI crawler access: whether your settings let the AI search crawlers you want reach your content.

When do you need a technical SEO audit?

You need a technical SEO audit when search traffic drops without an obvious reason, when important pages aren't showing up in Google, or before you change platforms or URLs. Other common signs:

  • Search Console shows a growing number of pages marked "Crawled - currently not indexed" or "Discovered - currently not indexed."
  • New pages take a long time to appear in search, or don't appear at all.
  • The wrong page ranks for your main services, or two of your pages compete for the same search.
  • Your site has grown over years of plugins, redesigns and old campaigns, and nobody is sure what's still live.

If none of these apply, a full audit may not be the best use of your budget yet. We'll say so, and point you to what will help more.

What do you get from the audit?

You get a prioritized fix list, not a tool export. Automated crawlers flag hundreds of warnings, and most of them don't matter. We check each finding by hand, drop the noise, and rank what's left by how much it affects your visibility and how much work it takes.

Each item on the list says what's wrong, which pages it affects, why it matters and exactly how to fix it. The list starts with the issues that stop pages being found at all, then moves to the ones that weaken them. We walk you through it, so you know what's urgent and what can wait.

Do we fix the issues too?

Yes. The same team that runs the audit builds websites, so fixing is part of the service, not a referral. Our web team can make the changes in your templates, redirects, sitemaps and schema, and the SEO team checks them in Search Console afterwards.

If speed is the main problem, our website speed optimization service goes deeper on Core Web Vitals. If you have your own developers, the fix list is written so they can work from it directly.

Audits before a redesign or migration

The best time for a technical SEO audit is before a redesign or migration, not after traffic drops. Moving to a new platform, changing URLs or merging sites is where search visibility is most often lost.

An audit beforehand records what's working now: which pages bring traffic, which URLs need redirects and which technical problems shouldn't be carried over. That becomes the plan for the move. Our guide on how to migrate a website without losing SEO explains the steps.

Want to try a DIY technical audit first?

You can, and we've written the method down. Our free guide on how to do a technical SEO audit walks through the same checks, and our guide to fixing indexing issues in Search Console helps with the most common problem.

The guides are a good start if you have time and a developer on hand. The service makes sense when you'd rather have experienced people find the issues, decide what matters and fix it. For structured data, see our schema markup guide for service businesses.

Pricing: custom quote

A technical SEO audit is priced as a custom quote. A small site and a large one with thousands of URLs need very different amounts of work, and so does an audit-only job versus audit plus fixes. Tell us about your site and what's worrying you, and we'll scope it and send a quote. It's part of our wider SEO services.

FAQs

Every audit is a custom quote. The cost depends mainly on the size of the site, how it's built and whether you want us to make the fixes too. Tell us about your site and we'll send a quote.

Fast, but not instant. We check every finding by hand rather than sending a tool export, so the time depends on the size and complexity of your site. We confirm the timing with your quote, before any work starts.

We fix them. Our web team works on the same projects as our SEO team, so the fixes on the list can be made in your code, content and settings by the people who found them. You can also take the list to your own developers.

Our free guide shows you how to run a technical audit yourself. The service is the same method done for you by experienced people, with the findings ranked by impact and the fixes made, so you don't have to interpret tool reports.
