Next.js vs. Webflow vs. Framer: Which Is Right for Your Website?
We get asked this constantly, and the honest answer is that the best platform depends entirely on what the site needs to do, not which one is 'better' in the abstract.
Next.js
Best for: highly custom builds, complex interactions, sites that need full control over performance and SEO architecture. The tradeoff is development time — custom code takes longer to build than a visual builder, but it gives you the most flexibility long-term.
Webflow
Best for: marketing sites that need a non-developer to make content updates regularly, with strong design control and solid built-in SEO tools. A great middle ground between custom code and a template.
Framer
Best for: fast-moving teams that want a polished, animation-rich site without a long build cycle. Framer has gotten very good very quickly — for many small-to-mid sized businesses, it's now a legitimate alternative to a fully custom build.
How we decide
We ask three questions: how complex is the functionality, who's going to update the content after launch, and what's the timeline. The answers usually make the platform choice obvious.
