Nic Vans x Brooks Running: A NYC Marathon Film in Under 48 Hours
Brooks Running partnered with creator and athlete Nic Vans for the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon. The story was live for one weekend only, and the content had to move at the speed of the moment. We scripted, shot, and edited the film in under 48 hours, from New York to Florida, so it could land while the race still mattered.
The challenge
Marquee events do not wait. A marathon happens once, the conversation peaks within hours, and a brand either shows up in that window or misses it. Brooks needed a finished film tied to Nic's race, produced fast enough to ride the moment but polished enough to represent the brand at a national event. The usual multi-week production timeline was not an option.
Our approach
- Built the concept and script around Nic's race narrative before a single frame was shot.
- Ran a lean, mobile crew so we could capture race weekend without slowing Nic down.
- Edited on the move, cutting between cities so the film was ready as soon as the footage was.
- Kept Brooks front and center, letting the product live inside the story rather than beside it.
What we delivered
- A finished marathon film for Nic Vans and Brooks Running
- Concept, script, and creative direction
- Race-weekend production in New York
- Full edit completed in Florida, all inside 48 hours
The results
- A film delivered inside the race-weekend window, while attention was at its peak
The takeaway
Speed is not the enemy of quality when the plan does the heavy lifting. A tight concept and a lean process let us deliver a national-caliber film in under two days, and the audience showed up for it.
